Volunteer Work

Most of the work of Radio Maria is carried out by volunteers who have given their hearts to the enterprise. You may volunteer to produce or present programs free of charge. You may also volunteer to become a member of the Association of Radio Maria Malawi or just a Friend of Radio Maria.

The dynamic stimulus to this mission is the spirit of the charity and amicable collaboration (goodwill) of all who participate in its implementation.

Both the young and the old have helped us as leaders in prayers, control room operators, aides in promotion and other functions. Radio Maria gives you an opportunity to share your time, talent and faith with thousands of listeners who listen to it day and night.

Radio Maria does not want to distract members from their other Christian duties. Their work at the radio must be supportive of, not in competition with their commitments to parish ministries and other Christian services.

The management of Radio Maria, at all levels, is founded on Volunteerism, an expression of the station's service to the work of evangelization carried forward by the Church. In the selection of co-workers preference is usually given to those persons who believe in the station's objectives, and contribute with all their hearts. Volunteers will in no way be remunerated. An interested volunteer is required to promise that he/she will not demand any remuneration for his/her services, will find own transport, food and accommodation. He/she will have a minimum of MSCE for duties that require higher qualification and finally he/she will be required to bring a recommendation letter from his/her Parish Priest.

Volunteer responsibilities include: Prayer on air, Control room operators or Sound Engineers, Remote broadcast coordinators or Mobile Studio Operators, Local promotion -Friends of Radio Maria, Administrative support, Building plant repair and maintenance, Continuity Announcers.
